New York Yankees Cake

My brother had been gone for the last two years on his birthdays so I decided that he needed a specialty cake--especially since while he was away, the Yankees won the Series and everything! I had learned at my decorating class how to trace with piping gel and this came in extremely handy when making the NY symbol. There's also a New York skyline behind, along with pin strips, but it's kind of out of proportion.

What did I learn? Navy blue is the hardest color to get! WOW! I used sky blue, black and purple coloring and it literally took 7/8 of the blue container and more than an hour and a half of my time. The best part about the cake was the baseball letters. I used an edible pen and I fell in love with it!
